Juan Manuel Marquez: Mexican Boxing Success

Reasons For Mexillence:

3. Ranked as the #5 pound-for-pound fighter by Ring Magazine.


Last night was the highly anticipated Marquez VS Pacquiao III bout. Although Marquez lost via decision, he remains an example of perseverance and determination to succeed in a professional career.

Marquez is originally from Mexico City, Distrito Federal (in Mexico). Marquez began training for boxing at an early age and has never stopped. As an amateur, Marquez compiled a record of 35 wins- 1 loss and won 2 Golden Glove Tournaments.

Professional Career:

Marquez lost his first professional fight via disqualification. However, Marquez remained persistent and did not lose for the next 6 years. In the process, Marquez captured the WBO NABO Featherweight Championship. Counting last night, Marquez displays a professional record of 54 wins-5 loses-1 draw. Throughout his career Marquez has changed weight classes and won 7 more championships. Even though he lost his first fight, Marquez remained persistent with his professional career.
