The signature on the left side (the one labeled Treasurer of the United States) is most likely mispronounced by the same Americans that routinely utilize the currency. That name was first signed by Rosa Gumataotao Rios on August 6, 2009; a few days before being sworn in as treasurer.

Rios is the sixth Latina and third consecutive Californian to occupy the office. Early in her career, Rios was involved in economic development in northern California for cities such as: Union City, San Leandro, and Oakland. Then, Rios moved on to consulting and worked for a few firms. Eventually, Rios transitioned toward politics and volunteered for the campaign of President Obama. Finally, Rios was sworn in as Treasurer of the United States in August, 20 2009.

Rios's Background:

Rios lived most of her live in Alamdeda County, in California. Rios graduated from Harvard University with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and Romance Languages and Literature. Rios was sworn in as Treasurer of the United States in August, 20 2009.
